Notes
The sense that we’re powerless comes from our “industrial system”:
- not chosen
- not talented
- not worthy
None of that is true:
- leverage
- experience
- desire to make things better

Thoughts
More preaching to the converted, in my case. I think I’ve been an old white guy long enough that I’ve not felt that I’m “not enough” for some time—at least, not as an explicit excuse not to start.
On the other hand, I’m reading Seth’s book hoping to learn how to ship things—to finish work and put it out into the world. I delay with both of those parts of the process. Why?
In other words, I think that I’m not having problems starting so much as continuing and, especially, finishing. And the notion of “not enough” surely applies there, too—differently, perhaps, but nonetheless.
This series is meant to capture my thoughts as I work through Seth Godin’s The Practice. It’s a book with over 200 (very short) chapters, which I hope to work through and, I further hope, to implement over time.
If you’re interested in more of Godin’s ideas, or my thoughts about them, you can check out this collection of posts. Note that if you’re more interested in the former, you should probably get Godin’s book and read it yourself; my notes will be both incomplete and idiosyncratic, and my thoughts will relate to my own experience.
But if my thoughts resonate with you, or if you think I’m just silly, I welcome your comments.
